Indian classical dances
Reviving the glory of Indian classical dances
Reviving the glory of Indian classical dances
In the wake of globalization, the term 'local' has lost it's true meaning.Today you can learn dances originating form different parts of the world by walking to the nearest dance academy and choose from the gamut of dance courses offered by them. With a number of western dances becoming increasing popular with children in India and entertainment channels further promoting them, are Indian classical dances on their way of becoming a passe? In a world getting 'flatter' by the minute, audiences have access to view and learn several western dances, therefore given a choice between learning an Indian classical dance and say hip hop or salsa, they choose the latter. Sure Bollywood gets it's share of patrons, but it does not feature as a classical dance. Hence the question is,what can be done to overhaul the image of these dances?
